Origin of the Album

After creating basically an R&B album with DJJD Volume 7, I just wanted to make a good old fashioned classic rock album.  I had no ideas for a theme in any way – just a collection of songs that I would have heard a lot on the local Springfield station 100.5 WYMG, which they don’t as much anymore.
I started out with “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verse (which would eventually be the only non-classic rock song) as well as “Eruption” and “You Really Got Me” by Van Halen.  From there, I just compiled a bunch of other classic rock songs that would hear on the radio.  This basic concept I would emulate again in DJJD Volume 22 and DJJD Volume 23.

Concept and Theme of the Album

As mentioned above, this is essentially a classic rock album, except for “Bittersweet Symphony”, which I wanted to include.  Just rock and roll, baby!

Concept and the Album Cover

I originally wanted to make a basic album cover with a flaming guitar – almost having a “Ghost Rider” feel to it.  With the original album, I could not find a good flaming guitar picture on the internet.  Therefore, I had to download a regular electric guitar and create my own flames by smudging the yellow edges.  I then added that to a sunset over the ocean background.

I did not particularly like that cover. It looked like a kid did finger painting on it.  On the remastering of this album, I did find a flaming guitar (acoustic, not electric) and placed it on a better sunset background.  To give it a contrast, I made the background bluer, and then added golden titles.
